Jade Otway on the rise.


Over the July holidays, Jade Otway travelled to Brisbane to compete in three tournaments. First up, she played in the Queensland Open and made the final round of qualifying the in the Women's division, losing to Andjela Djokovic, who has just completed her college tennis career at Purdue University in Indiana. Jade also competed in the 18/U division at the Queensland Open and managed to win the title without dropping a set. Next up were some junior events, The Rod Laver Lead-in and the Rod Laver Championships, both very prestigious junior events. Jade was entered in the 16/U divisions and won the singles events at both tournaments, without dropping a set, once again. 

Since returning to New Zealand, Jade has been selected by Tennis NZ for the ITF Oceania Championships in Fiji next week. This event is restricted to the best 18/U players from Oceania. Later in term three Jade has been invited to the NZ trial for the WTA Future Stars tournament which is held in conjunction with the season-ending WTA event in Singapore.
